Nestled in the Mayacamas Mountains between St. Helena and Santa Rosa, the picturesque 235 acre estate of Pride Mountain Vineyards produces unique wines in contrast to those made in the neighboring valleys. The vineyards are set above the fog line, which enables the grapes to be exposed to California's hot sun from dawn to dusk. As a result, the flavors of these wines tend to be rich with ripe black fruits, "balance, nuance, and complexity." They are made to be approachable at a young age with the capability to age beneficially for 10-15 years. Cheers to Pride Mountain wines!
The Pride Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve 2001 is a distinguished wine hailing from a high-elevation estate on the Napa/Sonoma line. Crafted by winemaker Bob Foley, this blend consists of 98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Petit Verdot, aged for about two years in new French oak. The wine showcases an inky purple hue and offers an intense aromatic profile of creme de cassis, violets, and licorice, followed by robust flavors of blackberry, chocolate, and cedar. With a full-bodied structure and chewy tannins, it promises exceptional aging potential, making it a prime example of mountain Cabernet Sauvignon from a revered vintage.
