Critical Reviews

Benchmark Wine Group provides professional reviews as a courtesy to assist our customers when making a purchase. Most critics specialize in a specific growing region and often show preference for certain styles of wine. We encourage you to follow the links below and become familiar with each.


Allen Meadows writes a quarterly review which focuses exclusively on Burgundy and other select regions growing Pinot Noir.


Antonio Galloni, once a lead critic for The Wine Advocate, founded Vinous in mid-2013 focusing on wines from Italy, California, Champagne and Burgundy. In late 2014, Vinous absorbed the International Wine Cellar and all reviews from Stephen Tanzer.

Jamie Goode

Jamie Goode is a wine columnist for The Sunday Express. Based in London, he is a wine judge and writer and he reports and critiques wines in all regions of the wine world.

Falstaff Magazine

With 30 years of experience, this Austrian magazine has grown to be the source for Austria, Switzerland and Germany wines. Their database has accurate details, tasting notes and scores on over 30,000 wines.

La Revue du Vin de France

Scored on a 20 point scale, their French wine experts have been contributing to this monthly publication since 1927.

Connoisseur's Guide to California Wine

Each review is based on blind, peer tastings of Californian wines. Over their 35 years of experience the Connoisseur’s Guide to California Wine has come to be known for their independent and objective opinions.

Jean-Marc Quarin

Jean is a resident of Bordeaux and he is among the very few with access to early samples of wine from every harvest. He has over 25 years of experience and has reviewed over 30,000 wines.

Jeremy Oliver

Huon Hooke
