Nestled in the Mayacamas Mountains between St. Helena and Santa Rosa, the picturesque 235 acre estate of Pride Mountain Vineyards produces unique wines in contrast to those made in the neighboring valleys. The vineyards are set above the fog line, which enables the grapes to be exposed to California's hot sun from dawn to dusk. As a result, the flavors of these wines tend to be rich with ripe black fruits, "balance, nuance, and complexity." - A great wine, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Vintner’s Select is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged for 20 months in 40% new French oak. This is a beauty, with classic notes of espresso bean, white chocolate, crème de cassis, licorice and graphite. Some subtle oak appears in the flavor profile, which is mostly dark black fruits. The wine cuts a broad swath across the palate, and is savory, pure and hedonistic. With each look, additional nuances seem to appear. Drink it over the next 15-20 years.
