In 1989, Agustin and Valeria Huneeus found the property that would be Quintessa, a remarkable estate in the heart of the renowned Rutherford appellation of the Napa Valley. With 280 acres, it was the last great undeveloped property in the Napa Valley and it had all the characteristics of a great wine estate: rolling hills, diverse microclimates and many complex soil types. Agustin and Valeria had the vision to develop an estate perfectly suited for the creation of a singular wine that reflects this unique place. Quintessa expresses harmony and balance through the property, the vineyard and the wine.

The Quintessa Red Napa Valley 2012 is a distinguished Bordeaux-style blend from a renowned Rutherford estate, characterized by its organic and biodynamic farming practices. This full-bodied wine primarily features 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by smaller proportions of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Carménère. It showcases an array of enticing aromas including blackberries, blackcurrants, and earthy notes, supported by a firm tannic structure and vibrant acidity. The palate is rich and smooth with layers of dark fruit and hints of cedar, finishing with a lingering elegance. Aged for approximately 20 months in French oak, this magnum format enhances its aging potential and collectability.

- The outstanding 2012 Proprietary Red Blend Quintessa is composed of Bordeaux varietals dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon followed by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Carmenère. One of the strongest efforts to date from this winery, it possesses a deep ruby/purple color as well as abundant aromas of sweet white chocolate, acacia flowers, and black and red fruits, full-bodied opulence, velvety tannins, and enough acidity to provide freshness and focus. It can be drunk now or cellared for another 10-15+ years.
