From vines on their own roots that John Paul explained were strongly influenced by the necrosis during flowering (ergo yields of less than 1 ton per acre) the 2013 Pinot Noir Abbey Ridge Unfiltered has a slightly meatier nose with darker fruit than the Clos Electrique `13: blackberry, bilberry and cold stone scents. The palate is nicely poised with very fine acidity, very elegant with a silky smooth dark cherry and cassis finish that just seems to "purr." There is a flow of energy within this Pinot Noir that I hope will be in situ once bottled. Just lovely.
