An exceptional wine as well as a historical curiosity is the 2007 Edge Hill Mixed Blacks. As I have written in the past, this is a compelling old vine field blend of Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Mourvedre, Grenache, Carignane, and Alicante Bouche. It exhibits an extraordinary nose of violets, incense, blackberries, blueberries, camphor, and spring flowers as well as amazing concentration, a whopping 15+% alcohol, tremendous texture and length, and no hard edges. How will it age? Who knows, but if offers a riveting hedonistic and intellectual tasting experience.
