The 2015 Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières took a long time to finish its malolactic fermentation, according to Dominique Lafon. There is a sense of composure about the nose: stone and mineral as you would expect from this vineyard, underneath which is tucked lychee and hazelnut. The palate is fresh and vibrant, kicking off with a twist of sour lemon. There is clearly weight and presence to this Les Perrières and whilst it might not quite possess the razor-sharp nervosité of the 2014, it offers a very sustained aftertaste and a pleasant salinity. You get the sense of reading the epilogue of something that will be fascinating to read.
