Leitz’s 2004 Rudesheimer Klosterlay Riesling Kabinett smells of apple and cherry blossom as if it were a Saar Riesling. Pineapple, tangerine and fresh apple on the palate serve up limitless refreshing, wafting fruit, and bracing ripe acidity, whilst inner-mouth florals and spice and mineral dust swirl about. The wine’s considerable sweetness backs off nicely in the finish so that one gets more refreshment and more subtle floral and mineral notes. This is simply a sensational value.
