The dark ruby-colored 1999 Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaux St.-Jacques has smoked bacon and cherry jelly aromas. Medium-bodied and broad, this is a sweet, beautifully ripened wine with an ample attack and mid-palate. There is a slight dip to its fruit before it seemingly comes back in the finish to cover the ripe yet copious tannin. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2008.
