Mainly Syrah with a touch of Viognier (3%), the 2014 Cuvee Jean has a deep garnet-purple color and slightly reticent nose of warm blueberries, plum preserves and crème de cassis, plus suggestions of Chinese five spice, incense, chargrill and peppered charcuterie. Full-bodied and firmly framed by chewy tannins, the berry preserves flavors are nicely complemented by earth and spice box layers, finishing with great depth.
