The single-vineyard wine, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Alpine Vineyard is a more backward style of wine – full-bodied, rich, and more tannic than its two predecessors with plenty of crème de cassis, spice box and minerality. It is dark, rich, inky ruby/purple, and although full-bodied, still retains its elegance. The finish is long, but this wine needs another several years of bottle age and should keep for at least two decades.

The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Alpine emerges from the southern part of the property. Here the flavors tend towards the earthier, more savory end of the spectrum. This is a decidedly intense, at times monolithic, style, but all the elements are complementary. It will be interesting to see if more bottle age helps, as the 2014 is a bit raw and unpolished at this stage.
