It is a well-known fact that Burgundy is one of the most beloved wine regions of France. The Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes show their full potential in the climate and soil diversity throughout the region. Maison Nicolas Potel has built its reputation as a negociant business that was founded in 1997 with no vineyard ownership. This producer makes wines from some of the most highly regarded vineyard plots in Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune while also accessing multiple Grand Crus and Premier Cru vineyards such as Corton, Charmes-Chambertin, and Echezeaux, just to name a few. In 2004, due to lack of capital, Nicolas sold the business to the Cottin Brothers of Labouré-Roi and has since moved on to develop his own Domaine de Bellene in Beaune.

- Ginger, nutmeg, and white pepper tinge the ripe black raspberry fruit of Potel`s 2006 Vosne-Romanee Petits Monts, which elevates to another level the combination of textural richness and caress with elegance and lift that characterized the corresponding village bottling. The dark forest floor and animal side of Vosne is largely sublimated here, but the long, soothing yet precise finish is transparent to spices, decadent floral perfume, and diverse, savory mineral nuances. This clearly demonstrates the class of its terroir.
