Domaine Ponsot
Domaine Ponsot is one of the most revered and historic producers in all of Burgundy. In the hands of the Ponsot family since 1872, they were one of the first Domaines to understand and use the importance of clones and clonal selections.
Today, the domaine continues to be under the control of the Ponsot family who grows their grapes using a non-interventionist philosophy, which expresses these terroir driven wines to the fullest extent. The winemaking soul and masterwork has garnered the mantra of a legend from wine critics all over the world due to their successful methods.

- (I have tasted this many times though the most recent magnum came directly from the domaine, indeed Laurent Ponsot opened it). A truly spectacular nose of earth, cassis, underbrush and explosive, sexy, utterly seductive black fruit aromas lead to dense, concentrated, sappy and entirely pure flavors of incredible complexity, depth and length. This is wonderfully impressive though even from this format I would be inclined to drink this sooner than later to preserve the fruit as there is just a hint of acidity poking through on the finish. That said, this remains a genuinely great wine of reference standard caliber. Multiple and consistent notes save for one magnum that displayed noticeable brett.
