Donald L. Bryant founded Bryant Estate in 1986 with the first vintage released in 1992, after finding success as a businessman and art collector. Perpetuating the cult wine craze of the 1990’s, Bryant Family Vineyard has earned the highest praise and top scores from every respected wine critic. The production facility hosts stunning views overlooking Lake Hennessey and the 13 planted acres of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. These highly allocated, tough to come by wines by Bryant Family are consistently a part of the finest wines produced in Napa, vintage after vintage. Bryant Family Bettina 2014 is a proprietary Bordeaux-style red blend that showcases the estate's commitment to quality and craftsmanship. Composed of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot from renowned David Abreu vineyards, this wine is aged in mostly new French oak. It presents a rich profile with deep, dark fruit flavors complemented by notes of mocha, spice, and floral hints. The wine's full-bodied nature is balanced by a silky texture and fine tannins, leading to a lengthy finish. With its elegant structure and approachable character, it reflects the unique conditions of the 2014 Napa harvest. - The 2014 Proprietary Bettina has a much more saturated purple than the DB4 (I believe all of this comes from purchased fruit from David Abreu’s various vineyards in Napa). Loads of forest floor and graphite, blackberry and blueberry fruit dominate the complex set of aromatics. Like most 2014s, there is a softness and lushness, a full-bodied opulence and a long, long finish. This is impressive and beautifully approachable already, but promises to keep for 12-15 more years.
