In 1968, Al Brounstein planted the first Cabernet Sauvignon vines on Diamond Mountain. These vines, planted on four vineyard sites with unique soil: Gravelly Meadow, Lake, Red Rock Terrace, and Volcanic Hill, became the core of Diamond Creek Winery. These vineyards produce a small amount of long-lived wines that are elegant with great depth and richness, honored and cherished by connoisseurs all over the world. - The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Red Rock Terrace comes from a 7-acre parcel on Diamond Mountain originally owned by the late Al Bronstein and his widow, Boots. The wine exhibits a dark ruby/purple color, beautiful density and richness, impeccable balance, wonderful purity and depth, a full-bodied mouthfeel, and a striking elegance. Still young and vigorous, it should hit its peak in 5-6 years, and should last 20-25 years thereafter. Rating: 94+
- WS91
- Bordeaux-like in its style, structure and range of flavors, with a mix of dried currant, fresh earth, mineral, tobacco and cedary oak. Gains complexity and nuance on the finish, which is long, sleek and complex.
