The two new estate cuvees come exclusively from their Force Majeure vineyard, with lies high up on the steepest parts of Red Mountain. Starting out, the 2012 Estate Syrah Red Mountain is an off-the-hook effort that possesses a deep, inky/purple color to go with incredible aromatics of smoked dark fruits, graphite and crushed rock-like minerality. Coming from essentially 5th leaf fruit, this thrilling effort is full-bodied, concentrated and rich, with fantastic purity, sound underlying structure and a blockbuster styled finish. Given the overall fruit and tannin quality here, it will be approachable on release and have 10 to 15 years of longevity. Range: 94-97

Dense and taut, with a tart edge to the raspberry, cherry and spice flavors as they play against firm tannins and linger on the finish. Best after 2016.
