D.R. Stephens

After moving to San Francisco for law school, Don Stephens started a restaurant on Union Street named The Cooperage to help fund his education. He was instantly attracted to the magical pairing of Cabernet Sauvignon and steak, so much that it gave him a reason to add the title of “vintner’ to his repertoire. In 1996, Don and his wife, Trish, founded Oz II, their 35-acre property on Howell Mountain Road in Napa Valley as well as began planting the nine-acre Moose Valley Vineyard. By 1999, the first bottling of D.R. Stephens Estate Moose Valley Cabernet Sauvignon was released and the rest is history. The wines have been extremely well received and are on some of the best wine lists in major cities all over the world.
