Based in the Carneros region of California’s Napa Valley, Etude is a Pinot Noir-dominant producer with a focus on musical expression. Founded in 1982, a year before the Carneros AVA was officially founded, by Tony Soter, the winery was acquired in recent years by Treasury Wine Estates. Etude wines are unique because, as opposed to the rest of Napa Valley, the Carneros sub-region is significantly cooler thanks to breezes from the San Pablo Bay, and can grow delicate, bright, and balanced styles of Pinot Noir. Although their flagship is Pinot Noir, the winery also produces bottlings of Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced from Rutherford and St. Helena as well as Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc.

- There are 2,500 cases of this 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon fashioned by winemaker Tony Soter from several sub-appellations (most notably Rutherford, St. Helena, Oakville and Calistoga). A blend of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Cabernet Franc aged in French oak, this beauty reveals aromas of sweet graphite, black currants, coffee and vanillin. Full-bodied with loads of pure red and black fruits, Rutherford dust and loamy soil character, lots of glycerin and a medium to full-bodied finish, it can be enjoyed now or cellared for another decade.
