Domaine de Montille
Although the de Montille family roots can be traced back to the middle of the 17th century to the Auxois region of the Côte-d'Or in France, it was not until 1947 that the Domaine de Montille vinified its first vintage of wine. Before purchasing the physical estate the family was known as negociants, but quickly turned into one of the top red Burgundy producers when they began purchasing parcels of land from the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits.
Today most of their sought-after wines, specifically 75%, come from land that has been classified as either premier or grand cru. Since the 1990s, the estate has made an effort to create nearly natural wines by obtaining their biodynamic and organic certifications as well as only using native yeasts and avoiding chaptalization.

Tasting Notes
- BH93–96
- This is aromatically similar except for the markedly more pronounced spice component which is broader still and perhaps just a touch more elegant. There is outstanding volume and richness to the large-scaled flavors that display superb delineation and ample minerality before culminating in a mouth coating finish of Zen-like harmony and stunning length. This is an indisputable 'wow' wine. Range: 93-96

- Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. The Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Malconsorts 2011 has a beautiful perfumed, floral bouquet that opens immediately with bright red cherries, fresh strawberry, minerals and just a tincture of burnt toast. The palate is medium-bodied, perhaps just a little green around the edges, structured and masculine with an aloof finish that will need time to mellow. This feels like it has some stem addition and while that influences the wine now, it will be assimilated and transform into intriguing secondary flavors down the line.
