The 1998 (500 cases) is very successful for the vintage. Made from a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, and 15% Syrah, it is an impressive debut effort (although the price suggests a lack of modesty). A dense ruby/purple color is followed by aromas of roasted espresso, blackberries, cassis, and licorice. Pepper also makes an appearance on the creamy, full-bodied, concentrated palate. Lush, with supple texture, excellent purity, and a long, rich, 30-second finish, it should drink well for a decade or more.
