Honeyed minerals are drenched with an herbal liqueur in the fabulous aromatics of the 2002 Meursault Clos de La Barre. This broad, ample, sexy wine is hugely decadent. Medium-bodied, thick, and fleshy, it is a deep, intensely flavored, spicy effort. One of the top Clos de La Barres I have tasted, it should be enjoyed over the next 6-7 years. Range: 91-93

There is a surprisingly advanced color yet the aromas are quite fresh with a picture perfect Meursault nose that is beginning to turn secondary in character with notes of apricot, honey, dried flowers and grilled almond. There is good power to the nicely powerful and succulent flavors that go on and on. This is really very good, particularly for its level and while it's not the most complex wine among the vintages tasted, it is wonderfully harmonious and complete. For my taste this is drinking perfectly now with no upside development potential remaining.
