Another beautiful wine in the vintage is the 2013 Syrah Sur Echalas Vineyard. Lighter in color than the 2014, it gives up distinctly northern Rhone-like aromas and flavors of salted bacon, fireplace soot, black olive and beef blood. Very savory, with medium to full-bodied richness, integrated acidity and a great finish, it needs to be forgotten for 4-5 years, at which point it will keep for two decades.
