Tasted at the Disznóko vertical in London, the 2000 Tokaji Aszu 6 Puttonyos is a blend of 75% Furmint and 25% Zéta, a vintage with a lot of desiccated berries that were relatively low in botrytis. It has 162 grams per liter of residual sugar. It has a clean and pure bouquet with mandarin, custard creme, a touch of vanilla and yellow flowers, though I would like to have seen the intensity it showed when I previously tasted the wine back in 2013. The palate is rich and generous, hints of toffee apple on the entry, marmalade, quince and fig, gentle and nicely composed toward the finish. It is drinking perfectly now, so much so that this is one vintage that I would not be inclined to age long-term. Tasted September 2016.
