Tignanello

For 26 generations, the Antinori family has been producing exquisite juice beginning in 1385 when Giovani di Piero Antinori joined the Florentine Guild of Vintners. The family name did not become globally known until Piero Antinori began a new winemaking style in the 1970s, when he decided to ignore traditional classification and highlight the versatility of Sangiovese. This rouge approach inspired him to replace the white grapes in the customary Chianti blend with Bordeaux varietals. It not only changed the flavor profile, but increased the longevity of the wines. His first effort was Tignanello and comprised of 80% Sangiovese, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. Its successors are Solaia and Guada al Tasso. Today the Super Tuscan movement is known for producing some of the highest quality wines in the world.
