The last vestiges of reduction detract only mildly from the otherwise nuanced and welllayered aromas of peach, citrus and white flowers. The rich flavors retain a fine sense of definition as well as a subtle minerality on the suave, silky and explosively long finish. This is a wine of harmony and grace that should age well.

The 2009 Beaune Clos des Mouches is quite round and seamless for a young Beaune. Yellow stone fruits and minerals are some of the notes that wrap around the palate in this striking white from Drouhin. I especially like to focus and energy of the finish. Though fabulous today, I am very curious to see where the 2009 might be headed over the coming years. In 2009 the estate picked the fruit from this site in nine separate passes. Anticipated maturity: 2014+.
