La Dominique
Château La Dominique is an estate in Saint-Émilion known for its Merlot-based red wine. It was rated Grand Cru Classé in the official 1955 classification of Saint-Émilion. In the winery, Château La Dominique undergoes 12-24 hours of cold maceration, and then vinification takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The grand vin is then aged in mostly new oak barrels. The average yearly production is around 90,000 bottles, and the château also makes a second wine, Relais de La Dominique.

- Typically sexy, rich, loaded with fruit, and opulent, the dense purple-colored 2000 La Dominique may turn out to be this estate's finest wine since their wonderful duo of 1989 and 1990. It exhibits copious quantities of jammy blackberry and cassis fruit intertwined with licorice, cigar smoke, and spice box characteristics with a hint of herbs. Full-bodied and fleshy, with low acidity but high tannin, this substantial, voluptuously-textured, impressive St.-Emilion is already drinkable. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2018.

- A rich, beautiful wine. Dark color, with blackberry, smoky and coffee aromas. Full-bodied and very firm, with silky tannins and a caressing finish. Muscular.
