Paolo Scavino is an estate in Barolo known for its polished, elegant red wines from the Nebbiolo grape variety. The estate owns 57 acres entirely within Barolo with parcels in 19 different cru vineyards in several different communes. The range of seven Barolo wines is led by the Bric Dël Fiasc (from the Fiasco cru in Castiglione Falletto), the Cannubi and the Riserva Rocche dell'Annunziata which is aged for an additional year both in large casks and in bottle, and is sourced from a cru vineyard in La Morra.
Tasting Notes
- WA92
- The 1999 Barolo Carobric, shows more fruit and varietal Nebbiolo personality than Cannubi, much volume and roundness of flavor, anise and mineral notes, and an important dimension and depth. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2018.
- WS91
- Displays blueberry and flowers, offering hints of chocolate and berry on the nose. Full-bodied, with soft, silky tannins and lots of fruit, turning hot.—'99 Piedmont blind retrospective (2009). Best after 2011.
