When Cayuse Vineyards’ owner and vigneron Christophe Baron and general manager Trevor Dorland began No Girls Wines it was only planned to be a one-time collaboration in the Walla Walla Valley. As the business grew, they included more Cayuse employees such as assistant vigneronne Elizabeth Bourcier and controller Nancy Nestler. The name comes from a sign found in the winery, purchased in 2002, which was previously a bordello in the mid-19th century. The words, “No Girls,” painted on the wall of the winery symbolize how much times have changed in the beloved wine-growing region of Washington.

- Also brilliant and a superb example of Syrah from the Rocks region of the Walla Walla Valley, the 2010 Syrah La Paciencia Vineyard delivers classic aromas and flavors of ground pepper, steak tartar, wild herbs and assorted dark berry-styled fruit. A 100% Syrah that comes from a high density planting located just behind Cayuse’s Armada Vineyard, it is medium to full-bodied, rich and supple on the palate, with an elegant, seamless feel that’s hard to resist. Count me as a fan and this beauty will continue to shine for upwards of another decade. Drink now-2022.
