An opaque purple color is followed by aromas and flavors of blackberry liqueur, spice box, licorice, and judicious wood. This dense, rich, and unevolved wine is a beautifully balanced, strikingly pure, layered effort that requires several more years to reveal additional nuances. Certainly, the quality of the fruit, depth, and texture are all there. Remarkably complex and well-made, with a core of earthy currant, black cherry, beet root, anise, tobacco and cedary notes. Turns earthier on the finish, in a pleasing way, with firm tannins.
