In 1968, Al Brounstein planted the first Cabernet Sauvignon vines on Diamond Mountain. These vines, planted on four vineyard sites with unique soil: Gravelly Meadow, Lake, Red Rock Terrace, and Volcanic Hill, became the core of Diamond Creek Winery. These vineyards produce a small amount of long-lived wines that are elegant with great depth and richness, honored and cherished by connoisseurs all over the world. Taste the differences imparted to the wine by the distinct soils and micro-climates of Diamond Creek Vineyards – the jewel in the crown of Diamond Mountain.
The Diamond Creek Cabernet Sauvignon Volcanic Hill 2004 is a distinguished single-vineyard wine from Napa Valley’s Diamond Mountain District, crafted from a unique block of volcanic soil. This vintage showcases a deep ruby/purple hue and is characterized by its intense concentration and robust structure. Aromas of blackberry jam, mocha, and cinnamon spice lead to a palate rich in cherry-blackberry and chocolate flavors, supported by smooth, firm tannins. The 2004 growing season was warm with low yields, contributing to its lavish quality. Aged in French oak, this limited-production wine reflects the estate's commitment to terroir and quality, promising longevity and evolving complexity over time.
