Fonseca

With three quintas or estates, throughout the Douro region of Portugal, Fonseca is a port house recognized for a lush and exotic style of its vintage releases. In 1815 the Fonseca and Monteiro families founded the house, but by 1949 the company was sold to Taylor Fladgate which had loaned Fonseca considerable sums since the outbreak of war in 1939.

Each estate that Fonseca owns is responsible for different and complex wines ranging from rich and jammy Quinta do Panascal in the Távora Valley to the tannic and dense Quinta do Cruzerio and Quinta de Santo Antonio in the Pinhão Valley. Through the years Fonseca has built a loyal community of Port enthusiasts who value its distinctiveness and unmatched character of its wines.
