Normally the field blend of Zinfandel, Mourvedre, Grenache, Carignan and Alicante Bouchet is nearly overwhelmingly rich, tannic and intense, but the more charming, lighter-styled 2011 Edge Hill Mixed Blacks is a supple, soft, easygoing effort with plenty of meaty charcuterie notes intermixed with pepper, blackberry and black cherry notes. Inky/ruby-colored, full-bodied and supple, this alluring red can be enjoyed over the next decade.
