The legendary Raveneau family owns 9.29 hectares of vineyard, planted entirely to Chardonnay grapevines within the Chablis appellation of Burgundy. Crafting wines of remarkable quality and consistency, Bernard and Jean-Marie Raveneau are staying true to their father Francois’s philosophy of producing the best quality Chablis without compromise. Since 1948, Domaine Raveneau has been committed to very low yields and handpicked fruit that is aged in large old oak barrels to enhance the wonderful perfume, creamy texture and age worthiness that make these wines so highly prized.
Tasting Notes

- A ripe nose of orchard fruit, citrus and a lovely stony character that also displays a touch of reduction highlights the big, powerful and intense flavors that possess excellent depth of material and perhaps the best complexity of any of these 1ers. This is a racehorse with firm acidity and terrific focus and it can compete with the grands crus in 2004 as it definitely has that `wow` factor.

- Pale, green-tinged color. More raw and bracing on the nose than the Butteaux but more complex too, hinting at ginger, quinine, grapefruit, menthol and crushed stone. Precise, pure and tightly wound, with terrific precision to the citrus and stone flavors. But this juicy wine is not yet pliant or particularly expressive, and its density is overshadowed today by its citric spine. Distinctly austere but very long and subtle on the aftertaste. This bottle certainly tracks the barrel sample I tried a year ago. I`d wait six or seven years on this…
