Dalla Valle Vineyards
Dalla Valle Vineyards overlooks the Napa Valley floor from a hillside terrace 400 feet above the Silverado Trail in Oakville. Since Gustav and Naoko Dalla Valle purchased the property in 1982 and began planting vines, the exceptional acreage has continually distinguished itself as the ideal site for producing some of the world’s finest wines, thanks to the perfect convergence of lingering sunlight, cooling marine influence and red volcanic soil.
The trio of estate wines produced by Dalla Valle Vineyards originates in specific vineyard blocks, imbuing each with a unique sense of place. The Dalla Valle Cabernet Sauvignon, Maya and Collina Dalla Valle are all blended, in varying amounts, from Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc grown on the property.
Tasting Notes
- WS95
- Tight, firm and structured, with a rich, focused beam of blackberry, black cherry, currant, herb and anise. Full-bodied, intense and concentrated, this unfolds slowly and enticingly to reveal extra dimensions of complexity and nuance, getting better with every sip. Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2010 through 2017. 300 cases made.
- WA94
- A blend of two-thirds Cabernet Franc and one-third Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2006 Maya reveals an exceptional bouquet of sweet blue and black fruits intermixed with notions of flowers, roasted herbs, and charcoal. Dense, full-bodied, and powerful, with superb richness, complexity, and potential, this is a super example of this Cabernet Franc-dominated wine. Surprisingly approachable now, it should evolve for 15-20+ years.
