Nestled in the Mayacamas Mountains between St. Helena and Santa Rosa, the picturesque 235 acre estate of Pride Mountain Vineyards produces unique wines in contrast to those made in the neighboring valleys. The vineyards are set above the fog line, which enables the grapes to be exposed to California's hot sun from dawn to dusk. As a result, the flavors of these wines tend to be rich with ripe black fruits, "balance, nuance, and complexity." They are made to be approachable at a young age with the capability to age beneficially for 10-15 years. Cheers to Pride Mountain wines!
The Pride Mountain Claret Reserve 2014 is a distinguished Bordeaux blend, primarily composed of 56% Merlot and 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced from high-elevation estate vines on the Mayacamas crest, bridging Napa and Sonoma counties. This wine showcases a deep ruby/purple hue and an opulent profile, characterized by flavors of ripe dark cherry, plum, and blackberry, complemented by notes of tobacco, spice, and hints of mint. Aged in new French oak, it exhibits a luxurious texture with soft tannins and a fresh finish, making it both rich and layered. With its concentration and complexity, this wine promises excellent aging potential.
