With its first vintage being released in 2005, Kutch wines might be newer to the scene yet they have made a big name in the world of Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. Although they currently do not own any land, founder Jamie Kutch and his team have focused on minimalist techniques on grapes from the best vineyards that they can acquire. Sourcing from some of the biggest names in Sonoma such as McDougall Ranch and the Savoy Vineyard, Kutch has quickly become one of the leading small-production and high-quality producers from Sonoma Valley.
Tasting Notes

- The 2010 Pinot Noir Falstaff impresses for its inner sweetness, perfume and fabulous overall balance. One of the richer wines in this range of 2010s, the Falstaff is endowed with gorgeous mid-palate pliancy, depth and harmony. The use of 50% whole clusters is barely noticeable in this beautifully articulated wine. A finish laced with attractive floral and saline notes rounds things out very nicely. In 2010, the fruit was picked in October, quite late by Pinot standards. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2018.
