For more than four centuries, the members of the Méo family have devoted themselves to growing vines and making wines. They came originally from the Burgundy village of Selongey, in the north of Côte d'Or, where today, even if the vines, alas, have disappeared, a pressing house, dating from the year 50 AD, bears witness to the presence there of Gallo-Roman winegrowers. Today, the Méo-Camuzet is among the most renowned estates in Burgundy.
Domaine Méo-Camuzet Clos Vougeot 2002 is a distinguished Grand Cru from Burgundy, crafted from low-yield Pinot Noir grapes. Influenced by the legendary Henri Jayer, this wine showcases the traditional strength of its terroir, enhanced by careful vinification techniques including mostly destemmed fruit and selective use of new oak. The 2002 vintage, regarded as a benchmark in Burgundy, presents a profile rich in pure cherry notes, aromatic rose, and subtle spice, complemented by vibrant acidity. As it evolves, it reveals complex layers of sous-bois, truffle, and savory depth, making it a desirable choice for both current enjoyment and future aging.
