Château Talbot is one of the largest and most influential winemaking powerhouses in all of Médoc and is recognized and celebrated throughout the world. Situated in the heart of Saint-Julien, this outstanding Château spans over 250 acres on the banks of the estuary of the Gironde. Bordering the Pauillac appellation, its terroir is characterized by fine gravel and limestone over the well-drained hilltops. Talbot’s red wines age as gracefully as one would expect for an acclaimed Right Bank Bordeaux, but are also very approachable young. This self-described “extrovert” of a wine shows off fine flavors and layers of cigar wrappers and licorice and simply a cellar essential.
Château Talbot 2002 hails from the Saint-Julien region of Bordeaux and embodies a blend dominated by 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, alongside Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc. This vintage reflects the challenges of a cool year, yet it ultimately showcases a lovely balance of fresh red fruit, earthy undertones, and herbal notes, with additional layers of cedar and leather. The wine has a medium body with a crisp profile, marked by both tannic structure and lively acidity. Although it presents a fruit-forward style, it also hints at classic Bordeaux characteristics, making it a fine example of the estate's tradition. Aged approximately 14-16 months in 50-60% new French oak.
