Jayson Pahlmeyer, a former trial attorney quit his legal work and decided to satisfy his craving for wine into a career in Napa Valley. His dream was to create a “California Mouton” and in 1986 his Pahlmeyer Proprietary Red was the realization of a dream come true, and was the first of many critically acclaimed wines. With the help of many fantastic winemakers from Randy Dunn to Helen Turley they have all helped in the production of this iconic Napa Valley Bordeaux blend. Pahlmeyer’s viticultural practices demand low yields while commanding maximum flavor intensity. Farming in one- to two-acre blocks with a palette of as many as 12 clones for each variety, Pahlmeyer’s world-class pedigree of artisanal winemaking continues to rise to astonishing levels.
