The Winery

Hubert Lignier

If I have to recycle my declaration of adoration with respect to this domaine, then so be it. In recent vintages the ever-congenial Hubert and his son Laurent have furnished each vintage with exemplary, occasionally heavenly wines that rank amongst the finest in Burgundy. If God made wine for a reason, then it was for wines like these.
–Neal Martin

Hubert Lignier is a family-owned domaine in the Morey-Saint-Denis appellation of Burgundy particularly known for its Pinot Noir wines from the grand cru vineyard of Clos de La Roche. Although they are mostly known for Pinot Noir, the domaine also produces wines made from Chardonnay, Gamay, and Aligoté made in traditional winemaking methods meant to represent the terroir of each individual subregion including Morey-Saint-Denis, Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny, Nuits-Saint-Georges, and Pommard. Following the principles of “lutte raisonnée” (sensible combat) in their viticulture, Lignier’s team remains as organic and sustainable as possible in their viticulture. With the help of his sons, Romain and Laurent, Hubert has been fortunate to expand his domain into the remarkable estate that it is today.
