Mommessin

Mommessin is a Quincié-en-Beaujolais négociant that has been bringing its great Gamay, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay wines since its foundation in 1865, and now makes wines from the Rhône as well. The producer is known for choosing the best vines throughout their established appellations as well as working in exceptional partnerships with its vinegrowers. The House of Mommessin has its origins as an estate for Cluny monkts in Southern Burgundy, and in 1865 Jean-Marie Mommession chose to build a company in that former property. After having been based in the Mâconnais region for over a century, the company moved to central Burgundy and today both cultures have blended at the estate. In the 1990s, the business was purchased by Boisset and their portfolio has since expanded. Mommessin’s wines develop their unique character from their ancestry, an association of the typically Burgundian mission for quality as well as bursting flavors that describe Beaujolais wines. They produce numerous labels under each region ranging from premier cru to village. Their wine style is exceptional, steeped in tradition and a simultaneous balance of tender and silk at the same time.
