

After training in the Sine Qua Non cellar for eight years, Maggie Harrison got the chance to produce her own label from a small portion of the prestigious White Hawk Vineyard in Santa Barbara County. With that, she released the first vintage of 2004 Lillian Syrah and has continued to produce wines from the vineyard as well as the Bien Nacido Vineyard in Santa Maria Valley, and the Stolpman Vineyard in the Santa Ynez Valley. The wines are fermented with native yeasts and are unfined and unfiltered which further adds to the finesse and elegance of Lillian.
The Lillian Syrah 2011, crafted by Maggie Harrison from select Santa Barbara County vineyards, showcases a blend of black and blue fruit aromas, enhanced by notes of woodsmoke, candied violet, and black cardamom. This wine, aged for nearly two years in French oak, exhibits a broad palate with intense flavors of cassis and blueberry, complemented by a vibrant touch of white pepper. Its smooth tannins contribute to a structured and lingering finish, marked by floral and spice nuances. The cool vintage conditions of 2011 aided in developing its complexity and longevity, making this wine a notable example of California Syrah.
