Located in the Veneto, Zenato is an established wine house known for its Amarone della Valpolicella, although it also makes a range of other classic varietals from the region such as Pinot Grigio, Soave, and Corvina. Originally founded by Sergio and Carla Zenato in 1960, the project was launched originally to produce the indigenous varietal of Trebbiano di Lugana. Their children are now maintaining and continuing to expand the project; their daughter Nadia oversees the marketing and business side of the company while their son Alberto handles all aspects of production. It was actually Alberto’s idea to begin exploring and producing the Amarone, a wine of local nobility and prestige, and allowed the winery to enter into international markets. The Made in the ripasso method, the flagship Riserva Sergio Zenato is produced from grapes that are dried in a single layer on trays then aged in 7500-liter Slavonian casks for four years.
