Francesco Rinaldi is an Italian winery in the Barolo appellation that makes a range of wines in the various regional styles of Piedmont. The signature variety here is Nebbiolo, but Rinaldi also makes wine from Barbera, Cortese, Dolcetto and Grignolino. The winery was founded in the 1870, and was originally associated with the red wines of Alba, before making its first Barolo in 1906. Founder Giovanni Rinaldi built the winery and cellar in the highly regarded Barolo Cannubi region. The winery was named for Giovanni's youngest son Francesco after he took over sole charge of the estate from his brothers in 1922. Francesco's granddaughters took over in the 1990s, expanding the winery's commercial markets internationally.
