For four generations, the domaine of Bachelet-Ramonet has been located in the heart of the Côte d'Or, south of the Côte de Beaune, in the town of Chassagne-Montrachet. This famous village is one of five villages considered to be the 'Côte des Blancs', a strip of land considered to be the best place on earth for white wine, with an international reputation for excellence.
This Domaine was created when Claude Ramonet passed away in 1977 and his daughter added her inheritance to her husband Georges Bachelet’s holdings. Claude’s son, Pierre, kept the rest of the vineyards and continued to make wines under the Domaine Ramonet label. Alain Bonnefoy, who married into the family, now runs Bachelet-Ramonet. While Alain has continued the tradition of making elegant, balanced wines, his techniques in the vineyard and the cellar are now producing more concentrated wines. All the wines are aged in some new oak, with the Grands Crus seeing as much as 45 percent.
