Without the terroir-driven winemaker, Ted Lemon, Littorai would not be the recognized brand that they are today. The small, family-owned producer that was founded in 1993 is located in Sonoma and is known to focus on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir with minimal intervention. The name comes from the Latin word for coasts as a reference to geography which reminds consumers that wine, the noblest of agricultural products, comes from the combination of place (vineyard), time (vintage), and man. Ted studied under some of Burgundy’s top producers including Romanée-Conti, Dujac and Georges Roumier. Although the Lemons own a 30-acre parcel of land in western Sonoma, only five acres are planted to wines. Littorai has received great acclaim for using biodynamic and sustainable farming principles as a way to create a stable environment for the vines making his wines highly praised and age-worthy.
