If awards were given for most name changes of a chateau in Bordeaux, Chateau d’Armailhac would take the cake. Though originally named Chateau d’ Armailhac, owner Baron Phillippe de Rothschild changed the estates name to Mouton Baron Philippe in 1956 and then to Mouton Baronne Philippe. The estate returned to its original name of Chateau d’Armailhac in 1989 and today is run By Baron Phillippe de Rothschild’s daughter, the Baroness Philippine de Rothschild. This 5th Growth Grand Cru Chateau in Paulliac neighbors Chateau Mouton-Rothschild and encompasses 50 hectares of vineyards which are planted half to Cabernet Sauvignon and the other half to Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot.
