Latour a Pomerol is a small winery consisting of less than half that hectares that most Bordeaux vineyards. But what this vineyard lacks in size, it makes up for with diversity in soils. The soils within this Latour a Pomerol consist of deep gravel and clay, which are a staple of Pomerol, as well as an encirclement of loam. Latour a Pomerol plants about 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, giving their wines a velvety taste as well as tannins that can hold up for aging. In 1917 this vineyard was acquired by Madame Loubat, who at the time also owned Château Petrus. The vineyard is now farmed and cared for by Jean-Pierre Moueix. These vines have experienced the upmost care and the vineyard is considered to be one of the ‘greatest crus’ within Pomerol.
