In 1961, Joe Heitz purchased an 8 acre vineyard south of St. Helena, and it did not take long for him to establish a stellar reputation as a new breed of winemaker. His Cabernet from Martha’s Vineyard was the first to be a vineyard designated wine in Napa Valley.
