Doyard-Mahe

Family owned Champagne house, Doyard-Mahe, is a fourth generation labor of love in the Premier Cru village of Vertus. The family lives on the property, which is surrounded by beautiful gardens and a natural creek. The winery is right next door and wines are stored and aged in cellars under the family home. Vinification occurs in stainless-steel tanks and the wine goes through full malo-lactic fermentation. All Champagnes, except for their Rose, are made from 100% Chardonnay grapes which gives the wine beautiful minerality and acidity. Today, the house is run by the women of the family. Carole Doyard believes that their extra brut style is the reason for their success but most everyone else knows that Carole’s leadership of the domaine is the true golden ticket. Today, Doyard-Mahe also makes a sweet wine from raisinated Champagne grapes called Ratafia as well as their Vertus Rogue sparkling aperitif of 100% Pinot Noir.
